Radicle Kurta
The Radicle Kurta takes its name from the radicle, the first root that emerges from a germinating seed. The garment features subtle embroidery that reads like fine root lines, denser around the shoulders and gradually spacing out as it moves downward.
This treatment marks Studio Medium’s exploration of embroidery as a surface technique, approached through the language of root systems. The kurta follows a familiar silhouette with a button closure at the back of the neck and includes a stitched lining, which gives the garment added fall and structure.
The colour palette : Clay, Green Shoot, Loam, Mineral Peach, Sand, Patina and Ivory is derived from research into soils and the minerals that give them their distinct colours.
